Hello and sorry my first post on this forum is a question but i'm really concerned about my newly aquired A150 as the hard drive makes a distinctive "tick" noise every 20 seconds or so. It doesn't sound like the crunch or grind of a failing drive but it definately doesn't sound right to me and i wanted to find out if anyone else experineced this or if it was just a normal noise.

Any help and advise much appreciated, from the 30 minutes i've used it so far i really like it but if it's faulty i'll have to send it back :(. Knew i should have went for the SSD version as opposed to the hard drive. HAving never used Linux before, i thought iwould future proof myself incase i wanted to put windows on it so got the one with the 1gb RAM and 120GB HDD

You can use any IDE-SMART utility to see a complete health report of the drive. That handy utility will show exactly what's going on inside that case to every detail over the history of the drive.

mine is exactly the same and I'm quite sure its normal. I think its really harddrive dependent though, my compal laptop hdd doesn't do it but my toshiba portege did this and it was working fine for ages...
