hard drive

    hi,

    can somebody please tell me how you formated your hard drive with out a mac machine

    I used a Linux Live CD, ran gparted, resized the existing partition free space to create an unformatted partition, noted the *exact* size and details and position of the partition in the partition table.

    Ran the Install CD of iDeneb, from the Utilities menu selected Disk Utility. Selected the partition created earlier (make sure it is the *exact* match to the details noted earlier, otherwise an existing partition could be wiped), and selected initialise as Mac OSX extended journalled. Named the partition Mac HD.

    Then, on the install step, I could select Mac HD as a target drive.

    If you create the partition before a Windows partition, you will need to edit your boot.ini to point to the new placement of the windows partition, otherwise you will end up with hal.dll errors.
