My 10" screen aspire one XP Home sometimes does not boot and shows the message:

    Intel UND1, PXE-2.1 (build 082)

For Atheros PCIE Ethernet Controller v1.0.0.13 (2008/10/15)

    Check cable connection .. !
    PXE-M0F: Exiting Intel PXE ROM
No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key

Occasionally it will boot normally, but it only runs for a little while and then it restarts into the above message.

Any ideas of what is going on?

Sounds like a bad hard drive to me.

I got an HP Touchsmart that did that shortly after I bought it, and did the same thing.

Hard drives do occasionally fail... sad but true...

BUT one thing you might do is check with the HDD mfgr and see if there may be a bios issue with that particular series of drive (doubt it, but you never know...and you might get lucky and that will take care of it)

    Good Luck with it!

My 10" Aspire with XP just did the same thing. Did you happen to find out if it was a bad hard drive or something that could be fixed without replacing it? Mine is under warranty for another 2½ months and I'm hoping that this is something that will be covered if it is a hardware issue.
