Err, using a car charger. Cigerette lighter. 12v input, 19v output.

Hardly a new invention lol, they sell them everywhere!

Yeah, I have a 12v car charger that I have charged my AAO 150 in several vehicles. That would probably be the easy part for him. Good luck. Different Strokes for Different Folks

Neat. DC-DC step-up converters used to be horrendously expensive. Glad to hear that this is no longer the case.

Turns out the EEC PC 701 has a 10V DC input and LaptopsDirect in Huddersfield are selling Grade A1 refurbs for a touch over £100...

My AA1 was a refurb. Condition is perfect. Not even a mark.

Was only the 512mb RAM model, but I took it apart, upgraded it to 1.5gb, drilled a new case hole, did some soldering.

Just finished installing an nLited copy of XP, everything running nice and fast :) Lovely little machine this.

Yeah, LaptopsDirect's A1 grade refurbs are damaged packaging only. Inside the box the contents are as new. Their A2 grade items may have cosmetic damage but for the tiny discount they offer over the A1 grade items it's hardly worth it IMHO.

I am also using mine in the car but dont want it to be a dedicated car pc. Want it to be easily removeable to use as a netbook. In my previous car I used to have a proper mini-itx car pc setup. In my current car time headunit already does dvd, ipod, mp3 etc so dont need any of that. I just put the AAO in the glovebox and connect up the cables for when I need to use sat nav, use the internet on the move via wifi or 3g connection or for car diagnostics.

Mine will be totally removable, if I ever need to use it as a laptop. Hence the non-permanent long range on button lol.
