    Hi
just got my acer and I can't get it to hook up to my wired network internet connection.
The wireless works great but no wired connection.
All my other laptops and pc's work fine.
    Help
want to make sure the net card is not NG so I csn return it if it is.

I did plug it into my work network and it did say it was connected in the system tray icon so I'm guessing the network port works.

    thanks

If you're getting a hard-wired connection on another (work) network, the port's good. As for your home network, what router are you using? You said that you can't get it to 'hook up', but didnt really say much else though. What exactly do you mean by that... For example, are you getting a limited connection or no connection at all?

Do you have MAC filtering enabled on the router? If so, you have to add the MAC of both the ethernet and WiFi adapters. Have you tried a different network cable and/or tried the same cable with another device? Have you checked the TCP/IP settings for the ethernet adapter?

By the way, what OS are you running and do you have any security software enabled?

Sorry here is some more info
When I plug the network cable into the acer I can't get on the internet.
    Says "network cable unplugged"
I'm running xp. Router is a netgear b/g "MAC filtering?" I don't think so.,
I have the mcafee software running that came with the acer one.
My wireless connection works fine. Just plugged it in and put in the name of my network and it worked.
I made my wireless network set up so its not broad casting the name of it.
Don't know if that effects the wired network set up.
When I plug in at work it says connected,

    thanks

No I have not checked or understand TCP/IP settings...:(:(
I have plugged my other laptop into this cable and it works fine.
