help connecting with ethernet

    I have an Acer Aspire One ZG5 running Windows XP and am trying to connect via wired ethernet without any luck. It just says "Local area connection a network cable is unplugged." I'm trying to connect it to a Belkin router F5d5231-4 that is plugged into a Comcast digital voice modem Arris TM602G/CT. I'm very unskilled when it comes to computers so any help is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
