Help - disappearing wireless connection icon

Hi

Apologies if this has already been posted.

I'm using an Acer Aspire One with Linux loaded. A strange problem which occurs every couple of days is the disappearance of the wireless connection icon from the bottom right of the screen. It often disappears after disconnecting me from the internet making it impossible to reconnect. I tried loading a list of available networks from the Settings screen however this did not solve the issue.

Is this a known bug?
