I have just bought the Acer Aspire A150L for my son.
I have managed to get the network connection going ok, but when I try to access the web, I receive
a message saying "server not found".

Please advise. I am not a computer whizz but can sort things with help.

My router is a 3com and my ISP is Talktalk. I have a main computer, one other, 2 PS3s and a laptop
which I have managed to get working fine.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks, Heather

Have you tried a different browser? Also, try to ping a website to make sure that your AAO is actually cnnected properly.

I've tried lots of sites but to no avail. I can connect to my router 3com site http://168.192.1.1/ but as I'm not too sure how these things work, it didn't really help.

I am connecting but not to any server.

    Please help.

    Heather,

Have you connected the acer to your network? You'll need to scan for your wireless network and then connect using your wireless password (assuming you have your network protected wep/wpa) Do you have the connected icon in your bottom taskbar?

Hi & thanks for the reply.

Unfortunately I am ready to throw the netbook through the window!

I have tried, as suggested, on another page of pressing AltF2, running terminal, then sudo route. All I get is Destination-Gateway-Genmask-Flags Metric Ref-Use Iface Then (user@localhost ~)$

With no numbers or anything else. The bottom bar shows No network connection.

Please help as I'm getting rather flustered!!

    Thanks, Heather
