I had a working linux system and I was attempting to get Dropbox going. It all went well until I edited /etc/rc.local to start dropboxd on startup. Now when I boot my system, I end up with an empty screen with just a mouse cursor that looks like "X".
Where do I go from here to try and recover (I guess I lost my desktop etc, but how to recover?)
Is there some way to step through startup and debug the problem?
