I looked through everything on this site, and I did not find anything that could help me. If I overlooked something, please let me know and I will refer to that area. I bought an acer aspire one ZG8 at a yard sale. It powers on, but it appears to have no partitions. My guess is the previous owner accidentially deleted the hidden partition. I tried to install xp on it, but after it does preliminary setup it goes to the blue screen of death. Help me. What can I do? Dont have money to pay someone to fix it.

Load the cd then turn on

At the setup screen “welcome to setup”

    Press “R”

At the next screen press “esc”

Follow instructions and create a new c: drive “ fat32” it will partition the drive for you, then continue on, to install xp

Your Microsoft error is explained here in full ( possible virus infection? )

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/324103

(freewarefiles) lists many virus removal tools that can be booted from a cd

    listed here http://www.freewarefiles.com

EASEUS Partition Manager for dos is another tool to help

You need to format your drive to “fat32” for xp use. This program runs from cd.

Super Fdisk is the free DOS version of EASEUS Partition Manager.

Super Fdisk you can quickly and easily create, delete, format partitions on IDE/ATA/SATA/SCSI hard disk drives in DOS system it only supports FAT-16 and FAT-32

    Here is the download link

    http://www.freewarefiles.com/search.php ... x=0&B1.y=0

Just a thought you may wish to download one of the Linux Operating Systems
like ubuntu 11.04, again it will run from cd without installing.

If nothing else it will test your netbook and tell you if it's all working.
You never know you may like it and then choose to install it.

    Extra help!

Netbooks, laptops and computers have cmos/motherboard batteries that last approx 6 years on average. The good news for you is that your “Acer aspire one ZG82 also known as “Acer aspire one AO531” cmos battery is a easy replaceable button type battery

You can easily find a free downloadable service manual searching either for ZG82 or AO531 on the internet.

Have a look at your motherboard settings press “f2” in the main section is your hard drive listed, if so then your cmos battery should be working,
