can someone please tell me what i can do to cure this?
when switching on my acer today i was confronted by the following error message:-

    DCOP Communications error (KPowersave)
There was an error setting up inter-process communications for KDE. The message returned by the system was:

Could not read network connection list.
    /home/user/.DCOPserver/_localhost_0
PLease check the "dcopserver" program is running

    BUMP

I have experienced the exact same problem as this message. Can anyone help with a suggestion? So far, my AAO continues to "operate" always giving me the error on start-up

    "DCOP communications error (KPowersave)
There was an error setting up inter-process communications for KDE

Could not read network communications list
    /home/user/DCOPserver_localhost_0

Please check that "dcopserver" program is running!"

The "KPowersave" window (only one character large window) stays open while the machine is working.

Power button does not work to turn the machine off (I have to hold the power button down to power down).

Although it may not be related, this seems to have occurred at the same as the home page in Limpus returned to the original icons from the few minor changes that I made (adding skype, moving a few of the installed programs to the beginning of the list for convenience)

I have a AAO running Limpus with SSD with 1.5 MB memory and a 16GB SD card always in place in the left slot.

Thanks a ton for anyone that can help me out.

Never did get any help, but after spending a number of hours looking I found reference to the BIOS emergency reflash utility that had solved a similar problem for someone else at macles' blog http://macles.blogspot.com/2008/08/acer-aspire-one-bios-recovery.html. It worked for me, so it may work for others, so I am posting it here in case someone else is watching this thread as was I hoping for help.
