Help using Avast

    So I looked around for a decent antivirus for my Acer Aspire One, and someone suggested Avast, so I downloaded it. I think everything went right, because when I access the add/remove program window there's a check mark next to the name avast. What I've been having some issues doing is actually opening the program and using it. My main problem is that I've no idea where I can find the program (I did a search without many results), I don't know if there's anything else I should be doing after downloading the program and such.
    Any help would be appreciated. I guess it's kind of obvious, but I have no experience with linux, although I'd love to learn more, but I'm afraid to mess my netbook up, since I have so many school notes in here.

    It should be under accessories when you right click on the desktop...or open a terminal and enter
