Did you turn on the second display in "Display Properties"?

"Out of Range" means you don't have the correct screen resolution and refresh rate settings.

If the other laptop works copy the settings from it.

so you have a TV that accpets VGA cables, you plug it into the AAO and it doesnt work but the same cable works for your bro?

have you installed any other graphics drivers? for exapmle when you right click do you also get other options except the properties one? for example graphics options or control panel?

    have you tried ultramon?

also when you go to right click properties and then to settings, and you see the second screen as a greyed out screen and you select "extend desktop to this monitor" do you also set the resolution and bit depth before you press apply?

    +1 thats the problem.
my guess is that your tv set doesnt support the resolution set on your AAO.
go in control panel and set the resolution to the lowest available then shut it down, connect the VGA to your telly and reboot the machine. Once you can see the image on the screen you can change the resolution again to suit your needs.
