    Hi
I´ve the same problem. Black picture now.
It started with the picture gettin green.... made a reboot ... it wasn´t recognised anymore.... made a reboot.... windows installed standard usb webcam drivers ... black screen. I thought it was because of installing some tools (camspace) and deinstalling them afterwards. I was not able to install the original drivers because of the "please plug in the device" message.
So i took the bezel off my aao and plugged it out and in again but the message "please plug in your device" still takes no notice of pluggin in and out the cam.

And the worst buggiest thing is, that the webcam doesn´t work in Linpus either in ubuntu nor in XP.. (all 3 worked perfect). Maybe the hardware of the cam is gone ? something changed the firmware (if there´s one :? ) of the Suyin cam ?

What was the last thing you did before your webcam went black screen maybe we find a solution ?
Does your cam work in other operating systems ?

you can try googling web cam/video recorder and find programs that most likely gives you the DLL ect..
second you can try to WINDOWS UPDATE with internet explorer under TOOLS then maybe it would find the right file for you, reason why its black cause its corrupted and you need new files or try under System Access and Refreshing the Memory it will give you free support

Thank you for this information, but can you explain why the cam doesn´t work in linux anymore when the drivers in XP are corrupt ?

Ok, i've tried this just to see if my webcam didn't work, so i downloaded "YourUninstaller 2008" u guys can google it and i unstill the Webcam Drive, not the one with the icon that has a webcam but the one that looks like a file, i uninstall and remove the registry, maybe the missing or corrupted registry had failed, so uninstall then remove registry from that file and restart computer, come back on all my files been updated and it worked...i've done 3 test and things are fine, hopefully this could help somebody..

    crack for Youruninstaller is

    Deleted!

very good program recommended even if things don't work

well I tried uninstaller but didn´t work for me.

I found out a strange behavior of my webcam.
The VID (vendor ID) and the PID (Product ID) have changed.

The drivers of my SUYIN (worked for me 100%tly) says in the suyincam.inf USB\VID_064e&PID_d101
    VID 064e
    PID D101

I think everybody who has the SUYIN drivers installed... can read these values out of the properties in the hardware manager.
it worked 4 me until I installed some software... and now surprisedly my VID and PID changed to other values.....

    USB\VID_0402&PID_5608
    VID 0402
    PID 5608

so the driver installation guide can´t find out the right Vid and Pid and says no cam device found plug in ... --> Cancel

I edited the suyincam.inf, changed the vid and pid to mine. --> Manually Driver istallation success !!! :)
... Acer Crystal webcam shows up again hurray ... but there is still no picture in the windows explorer preview.
The Acer Crystal Eye Webcam software still says "no webcam" found sure ... it looks for VID 064e and PID 5608 and can´t find it.

How can this happen ? in Linux the VID and PID also have changed --> so they´re stored in the hardware naturally of the webcam.
Now...- is it possible to change the VID and the PID ? Hardware specialists where are you ?

I actually think there is a registry conflict which makes your webcam not available. I use Ccleaner registry fix and it works again. You can download the program from http://www.ccleaner.com/

Nope didn´t solve the problem. I´m a ccleaner user since years... i think it is based on the hardware directly of the webcam.
theres a cmos like a bios with some firmware on it. something erased or changed that firmware on my webcam. i try to find a possibility to resuscitate the firmware.

Thank you anyway for the info !

Interesting. I am having the same problem, green, then gone black. Upon using the Suyin installer, it says "Plug the Acer Crystal Eye webcam into the USB port" or something. Checked, and my VID and PID are the same as yours. They have different from the suyincam.inf. However, I didn't have the suyincam.inf on my system, so I edited it, and then installed the driver.

    Still doesn't work.

I too have lost the use of my webcam now. I installed some software called Crystalmax, decided it was junk, uninstalled it and now the webcam isnt recognised. it's like it just disappeared!

If anyone does have solutions to get it back, that would be great

    cheers
