Is there a way to setup an apple macbook to hibernate similar to windows laptops? I have all my windows laptops setup that when I close the lid they hibernate, power down and then on boot up is quicker since windows resumes rather than starts.

I see that apples have sleep mode which really maintains the computer always on with primary devices off such as screen and hard drive, etc...

But can macs be setup to hibernate? Thanks to anyone that can give me ideas.

I have not had any issues with the sleep function available on OS X. I was under the impression that this worked similarly to hibernation.
