I am having problems with my new Aspire One which I purchased with Linux. The WiFi works great at coffee shops, airports and places outside the home. But we've tried accessing the home network and it won't connect, even though we have other laptops connecting in the house (using Windows XP). We've also tried using the hard wired cable connection, and that won't work on the Acer with Linux either. I assume this is a Linux software problem, not hardware given it works ok without any problems in areas that aren't encrypted, like the home network.

Anyone else had similar problem and if so...what did you do to fix? Could use any help!

    Thanks
    Len

Have you any sort of security set on your home network - such as a MAC filter - which might restrict what machines can use it, and if so have you added the One's MAC address to the list?

Is your home network all set up on DHCP, and if so are there any restrictions on the number of DHCP licences your router can assign?

If you connect the cable to your One and in a console do
    Code:
    ping xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx
where you replace the xxx... by the address of your router, what happens?

You don't say what distro you are using but I assume it is Linpus. Are you able to see the wireless connection when you are at home? Are you using any security like WPA or WEP?
