I have 3204 and I want to go to 3210. How do I do it?
Is it difficult to do? What happens if it goes wrong?
    Thanks!

Well, it's actually quite simple: Go to the support section on the Acer homepage, download the appropriate BIOS version (3210 in your case), extract the file, run the update software and follow the instructions.

However: There is the risk that attemptimg to update the BIOS may render your computer inoperable if the process of flashing fails for any reason. In that case you'd have to send in your 751 for repair.

Could you be more specific? What is the upgrade software you are suppose to run? With Version 3210 Acer seems to have changed the files that are being distributed with absolutely no instructions on how to install.

What software does the upgrade. Isn't the bios just an image?

If I download the 3210 BIOS-file and extract it (e.g. with WinRar), I get (among others) a file named "ZA3_3210.exe". This, as is usual for *.exe files, is an executable file (thus "exe")...

Oh, and btw: The "readme.txt" included provides the following information --> "Windows flash: Please click "ZA3_3210.exe" to update bios."

It appears that you ran this file directly from the download *.exe file above. Is that correct? I thought all BIOS updates were done with a CD/DVD boot.

The .exe is a Windows flasher, yes, all you do is click the .exe from within Windows....

I upgraded my BIOS successfully. One thing that I noticed is that my Synaptic program now no longer works.

I reinstalled and everything is fine. One thing I can say is that I now get 3 hours of battery life.
I have Windows Vista installed. I used to have XP. I still find that the machine is thirsty for CPU cycles most of the time. What can I do to improve things?

An easy way to read your current BIOS is to follow the instructions on the line below. When you run this utility, your BIOS will appear on the 9th line below under results. From this, I learned that I have version 3204 and now I'm thinking of updating before I install Windows 7.

Click on Start, choose Run and type in winmsd. This will bring up the Windows System information dialog box.

Other ways can be found at the link below where the above procedure is from.
