    You need to modify /home/user/.config/xfce4/desktop/group-app.xml

You'll need to su/sudo in order to get it work...

And modifying it to add an icon requires duplicating an existing entry, changing to a unique number, and modifying the path listed to start the new program.

There are plenty of instructions floating around on how to do this... including a YouTube video someone put together.

I believe I know the menu you're after.

To get it, open a terminal window, and type:

    xfce-panel -a
(note that root is not required)

After doing that, a new window will appear. Within that window, there are options for new things to place on your desktop. The Xfce Menu is near the bottom. Click on it, drag it to where you want (I have it at the top left, as my panel is on the top of my screen), and you're done!
