I got BIOS 3305 and want to upgrade to 3309. I got windows xp with 8 gb SSD. I downloaded the bios 3309 from acer but I don't know what to do with it now. Can I load the file to an SD card and plug it in? Newbie here. Thanks

Use a program called unetbootin to install Freedos onto the flash drive. The Bios download should have had a few files inside a zip archive called ZG5_3309.zip. Extract those files to a folder and make sure the folder is named 3309. Put that on the flash drive with the Freedos installation. Boot into the flash drive, then navigate to C:\3309. Then type 3309.bat and let the batch file run.

I don't see any file name ZG5_3309.zip, the one i got from acer is AS1_BIOS_3309.zip. This is confusing.

Download the file from here: http://muppet-modding.com/downloads.php ... iew&did=93 [file contains Bios 3309 and flash program for windows]

Open the rar folder and extract contents to your desktop of your Acer Aspire One.

Open the folder that is now on your desktop and double click InsydeFlash.

It will open the InsydeFlash program, click start to flash the new bios to your netbook.

[These are the latest bios 3309 given to me by Acer Support an hour ago]

AS1_BIOS_3309.zip is the same file, just downloaded from a different location. All my instructions are the same. The other way is flashing the BIOS from within Windows. I personally have never trusted doing it this way. If it freezes up your PC will be bricked

If it freezes up then you used the more complicated method that is used for dead aspire ones though that has never happened to me ever [I flash laptops very often for non-tech savvy friends] your instruction are not the same, they are more complicated and involve a different method my friend...

I'm just helping out, not trying to steal your thunder but this is the method that is used by Acer Customer Support themselves and is therefore most likely to be the safest way i'd wager.

I'm not sure if i did it correctly your method. I followed everything but I still notice the brightness level is about the same. I counted about 9 levels of brightness by pressing the Fn and the brightness key. How many you got?

No thunder stolen, I just prefer to flash BIos from Dos. The last time I flashed the Bios from within Windows it froze up and bricked a $1200 custom build. I had to have a very expensive motherboard replaced.

BTW to tell if the BIOS flash worked go into the bios and if i remember correctly its listed at the top of the screen. there will be something like v.3309. If it still says 3305 it did not work.

    haven't counted them :)

like dalton said you can check your bio version by pressing F2 in the boot screen [when you first switch the netbook on]
