how to create shortcut

    I would like to create a shortcut on my desktop which leads me to a folder on my SD card; eg a shortcut to my books folder or a shortcut to my music folder.

    Open nautilus or file manager window and right click on the folder and select "make link" if using Ubuntu. I use Xubuntu now so instead I right click and select send to (Desktop) You can also add the folder to the side pane so it shows up there with Documents, Videos, Pictures etc...
