    Greetings,

I am new to Linux and new to the AA1 (Linpus Lenux, 512MB, 8bg). I plan on using this netbook primarily for surfing, email, listening/viewing podcasts OFFLINE.. AND learning about Linux.

I have seen many of the YouTube videos and have not seen any that explain how the Linpus RSS reader works. Is the Linpus RSS Reader an aggregator of RSS web links or does it actually download podcasts (audio and video)?

If the Linpus RSS reader cannot be used to aggregate and download podcasts, or if there is a better aggregator out there, I would really appreciate it if somebody would write a guide on how to install and use a Linux friendly aggregator/podcatcher and podcast player.

On my Dell, I am currently using iTunes. I really don't want to install iTunes on AA1 since it's such a resources hog.

    Thanks!

    Bump
I initially tried using "RSS Reader" but it only provided the text feed - from which I could get the podcast only after a roundabout process.
Ive tried following a method suggested for VLC but I get intermittent results (at best)
Anyone know of a foolproof way of using VLC in the manner of say "Juice"
    - or any other alternative ?

    Thanks for your reply.

I've searched the web and cannot find any suggestions for an easy to install and use (linpus) podcatcher. Hopefully, somebody will post what they are using to download their podcasts. I would like to be able to listen to podcasts offline/off the net.

Thanks for the information. I am downloading --one by one-- the podcasts and using Media Master and mPlayer. Both have limited features. What I would like to do is subscribe to a podcast and have them automatically downloaded. Thanks again.

After trying -unsuccessfully- to install various podcatchers, I was finally able to install one that seems to meet my needs: gpodder. It installed with no problem.

After many attempts with other programs, I've tried with gpodder directly from the Packager Manager using the Install Software AND IT WORKS!!!!!

    THANKS ;)
