So I recently bought this little netbook at a pawn shop. They restored it to its original settings as if I were to buy this from the box at walmart. I bought a netgear 600 for it but my family says I dont need it. It had no CD ROM compartment and its microsoft windows XP. I was just told that XP might not do internet stuff anymore sometimes within the next year and now I am freaking out because I just bought this thing and I will be so upset if this was just wasted. It connects to my families wifi but when I click the internet button, the page comes up but its blank and freezes. Not sure what to do. I have restarted computer, disabled and enabled the wifi connection. Help please!!

Your Netbook should connect to a wireless internet network assuming you have one. While XP is long in the tooth and soon to be no longer supported/updated by Microsoft, that is not your problem. Does the network you are trying to connect to have a security code? If so, you need to enter it. Sounds like your aren't familiar with the workings of a computer. I'd suggest you get someone with knowledge to show you.

XP works and will keep on working as it always has for the lifetime of your laptop, and beyond. Take a note of the numbers on the COA sticker on the bottom. That entitles you to a win7 upgrade, Just download a copy and keep it for a rainy day. Win7 runs very well on D250, it has all the drivers. The reason you need to note the numbers, is that they wear off the sticker. No numbers, no legal upgrade. Check control panel network. It sounds like that is wrong, but it is a long time since i used MS, so the xpforums is where I would go if I had your problem.
