This looks awesome, hope it will be possible to get it on the AAO one day. The downloadsquad link that mentions installing it is only a GTK theme i think before anyone gets excited.

I've installed from an image on torrent sites. It's an image that you dd onto a thumb drive which then wipes the drive to restore MIE. It runs fine on my AAO, only no sound so far. Wifi worked only after the second boot, but it's worked fine ever since. It's pretty, but not terribly more useful than any other simple linux interface.

BTW the lpia kernel is not for via nano but for intel's atom, which the mini 1000 also uses. It does still make it difficult to use things compiled for x86 though.

Might be a bit OT ...

Frankly, I don't like those dark screens like this one, NBR, eeebuntu or EasyPeasy. It's like searching for a black cat in the night. Compared to this, I prefer Acer's Linpus Linux approach. Might be not so eye-candy, but rather eye-friendly.

I'm really hoping someone can find an easy way to port this to an AAO so that all the portions of the netbook work because I love the layout

I just installed it. Love it !

HP's done an excellent job with the interface - really slick.

Wifi seems to be a bit of a hit and miss at the moment, but i only have the default standard HP installation on my acer at the moment. And audio doesn't seem to work at the moment.

I've setted up a mirror to get the usb restore key files :
    http://mirror.botux.net/pub/ubuntu/hp-mie/

    The install works fine ...
So ... Wifi works but very unstable (+no led)
    No Ethernet connection :(
    No Sound

Any one could compile a kernel like kubi for hardy & lpia arch ?
I think this ubuntu mod' could be very nice on our aspire one's !

    Thanks

Hopefully some of the linux wizards here could edit this a bit and get something that would make the WIFI + sound work

    someone should try.

    :)

Not saying it will work for sure but it will install/work on UNR which is 8.04 and lpia based

You just need to use the --force-architecture option of dpkg

I wish I knew more about this stuff or I'd give it a try.

Sound would be kind of important to have on this, as would stable WiFi
