    Huawei E220 USB modem

I cannot get my USB modem to connect. I got Aspire one Blue, and I am using the downloaded Mobile partner from Acer web site.
after opining the mobile partner and connecting the USB modem the following messages appears:

    first: [Device found. please wait]

few seconds later ... [the device has been disconnected or is unavailable].

I have obtained all the sittings from provider and the modem is definitely working in other computers.

if any one can help please let me know

    thanks :D

    Louis

I get the same with mobile partner.
Mine is an E156G on 3 which shows as E220 using LSUSB and dmesg on an AAO
Mobile partner never shows a connection
Connection manager shows the 3g as 'OFF' (which maybe was my mistake - I clicked the radio button and it won't switch on again).
It can be 'seen' from the 'taskbar' icon when right clicking on connection.
any suggestion before I nuke the AAO?
    thanks for your help

Got a step nearer using the earlier post on setting up mobile partner for 3 UK
I have given mobile partner a profile and got a redial on connection
The antenna on mobile partner I suspect may be a clue due to the poor location for mobiles here
Many thanks to all who have spent so much time posting their successes
