When my AO150 goes to sleep I cannot wake it up! I have to do a hard reboot. Anyone know how to fix this?

It must be "hibernate" since XP doesn't support "sleep" mode.

Is sleep mode different from standby mode? I've been using standby on XP almost all the time. I've always thought it's the same as SLEEP.

There is no sleep mode in XP.
In windows Vista, sleep mode = standby+hibernate hybrid

So what's standby then? Seems to be the same as sleep... everything shuts off. Fan, screen, cpu... all except RAM. Pressing FUNC F4 w/c is sleep mode on the AAO seems to put XP into that state. Can you specify the difference between sleep and Standby? Thanks.

Well.. when you use the "sleep" or "hybrid sleep" or "power button" in windows vista, you go into standby mode. If power is lost, you can still recover because data is also "backed up" on the hdd or SSD. If the laptop happens to run out of battery during "sleep", it'll wake up and "hibernate".

BTW. Function +F4 is the sleep function, not sleep mode. When you press the "sleep button", XP goes into standby mode by default. I changed mine to hibernate when I press the sleep button.

If you want some technical words.
    Standby is S3 mode
    Hiberante is S4 mode
Sleep is mainly S3 mode, but also have some functionaility of S4 mode. Basically, if power is lost, computer goes to S4 mode.

I have this problem with a lot of my aspire ones. It can be fixed by updating the bios to the latest version.

Disable hibernate so the hiberfil.sys is deleted, then re-enable it.
Does the laptop POST at all when it has been in hibernate? Or do you get a blank screen and not even POST?

Sleep is basically stand by then. It's just that in Vista they added a hybrid sleep mode wherin it also saves to disk. In short stand by and sleep are the same thing. As the word sleep is used everywhere in describing XP standby.

My AAO doesn't post at all when I try to recover from hibernate. I have to press the power button for a good long time. Then it reboots. I read somewhere that this is caused by the driver or software for the camera. Is it true? If so what can I use in its place.

Secondly if it is a bias upgrade that is needed how do I do that safely?
