I need help somekind of bug

Hello i had recently turned on my Acer Inspire One It is 6 months old and i had not been on it for a while back to the topic in the picture below you can see a rectangle with some kind of star in the middle.

1) My Taskbar at the bottom has dissapered
2) When i hover my cursor over the star the text " New item This Item Has Yet Configured "
3) My Laptop now does not let access the internet or my network settings






If any can help please reply thanks

Don't usually comment on Linux, googled that 'New item" message and got this - resetting BIOS to default might work:

Read this with interest, thanks Forone, I had switched the kids machine on / off a few times before I read this, so tried to get into bios as described F1 and Escape, it didnt get to the bios ( as expected ) but it did clear the box and return the bar at the bottom of the screen !
