I really want to get a AA1, but

I'm thinking about getting the Lenovo ideapad S10 instead, mainly because it has a little bigger screen of 10.2.

What do you think, will a 10.2 make that much difference from the AA1 8.9 inch screen?

But overall i think they both would be comparable, i just don't want to get the AA1, and then find out the ideapad S10 is more to my liking.

I guess i should wait till the ideapad S10 comes out and see how it compares to the AA1, but im so impatient, i really cant wait till end of sept, beginning of oct for the ideapad S10.

Man it sucks being a tech geek sort of guy. :)

Looking at the specs of the S10, there's not much difference with what you get inside the machine. It did claim to have a GMA X4500, but it was just a mistype. Otherwise, that would've sealed the deal for me. It all comes down to which one you think looks the best. I think 8.9 inch is ideal for portability. You can carry it with one hand and hold it while you're using it without straining your hand. I'm not too sure about a 10 inch screen though.

I don't notice a big difference between the Aspire One and Asus 1000 screen other than the Asus has a matte finish.

The difference will be 1.3", more or less :D :D :D

    (Sorry, couldn't resist...)

Seriously, the bigger screen is great. But what I really don't like about the S10 is where the USB ports are located, all the way to the front.

Only major difference is the express card slot the Lenovo S10 has and one button quick recovery
The AAO has a bigger keyboard though

Guys, you're all getting hung up on the features again. The bigger is better parade.

Everyone starts out by going: "awesome, its small" then gets busy adding in features and doodads until it gets big again!

Obviously there is "too small", and everyone has a different limit which is why there are different models to choose from, but basically its about useability, not functionality. Burn this into your brain please:

    "It's a netbook."

You should be most interested in whether you can reasonably type on it. How nice it looks and feels. How convenient it is to carry around with you, and perform the basic common tasks. And yeah, how much its costs I guess.

So true. And this mentality is quite common among guys with a lot of technological know-how and not enough common sense, or geeks as they are usually called. An Acer is not going to be exploding with features and stay uncluttered. Or it would have been a Sony. :)

it's the same screen resolution 1024x600. so u're not going to lose any in terms of what you can see on the screen. However, the smaller LCD screen means that the pixels are smaller and more sharper. the negative aspect of having a small screen is just comfort for your eyes (which depends on the individual)

I have a Toshiba 13" dual core laptop and 17" core 2 duo HP laptop and eee pc 701 4 g and some misc. desktops/towers kicking around. I bought a AA1 to replace the EEE pc due to bigger screen size, slightly bigger keyboard, 2 memory card slots and less $. But I go by this.....netbooks are not computer replacements, just a secondary computer easier to transport around when needed. Everyone has their own reasons why they want or don't want a Ultra mobile PC, aka netbook. As long as it is for the right reasons.

    Hi

Lenovo has got the S10 on sale right now at their US web site with great prices! $429 for Black and $439 White/Red

With this spec but I see that delivery is not until mid Sept

    Intel ATOM Processor N270 Single Core ( 1.60GHz 533MHz 512KB
    Operating system12
    GenuineWindows XP Home Edition
    Display type
10.2 WSVGA AntiGlare TFT with integrated camera 1024x600
    System graphics
    Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 950
    Total memory8
    512 MB PC2-5300 DDR2 SDRAM 667MHz
    Hard drive4
    80GB 5400
    Communication adapter10
    Broadcom 11b/g Wi-Fi wireless
    Battery60
    3 Cell Lithium-Ion

That price equates to roughly £225-£230 approx in the UK but having looked at a press release from Lenovo UK the prices for the S10 will start around £319!! and for the S9 £279!! wot a rip off!! grrr

I will stick with Acer! and to my mind it's better looking too :D

I understand completely where you're coming from but personally I think the 10" model is the absolute perfect size for a netbook. The 10" model sacrifices VERY little in terms of "grab and go usability" yet the size of the 10.2" screen is WAY bigger than a 8.9". The bezel on our Aspires are freaken huge!

I went with the AA1 over the 10" models mainly because it was cheaper since I was setting up my cable modem at my new apartment anyways. $249 after the instant discount was a no-brainer.

Hope your'e enjoying your AA1 so far!!

I've just got mine a few days ago and it's been super awesome... despite having "downgraded" from an 12" iBook remarkably the screen size wasn't an issue at all.. that, and all the extra weight taken off is a burden off my shoulders

my AA1 is everywhere that I am now!! :)

Yeah im loving my new AA1.

Just have to find a nice skin protector, and perhaps a new carrying case that protects it more than the sleeve it came with.

I cant wait to show all my friends this weekend, they will be so jealous. :D
