Earlier I read that people were getting much better boot speeds than me.
So i looked into installing an nlited XP onto my AA1.
The only way for me to install XP is to use the guide for the eeepc of installing it from a usb stick.
When i try and follow this guide using nlited xp it does not work.

I'm not sure what to do.
I just wanted faster boot speeds. my current is around 1 minute 5 seconds.

    Anyone know of anything?

UPDATE: im going to try it using tinyxp.

UPDATE: when trying to add the tinyxp files and the nlited xp files to my usb stick i get the same error and it is
'Error: The Path H:\ does not contain windows xp source files.

    What should i do?

    EDIT:
If I buy an external USB cd drive. and burn tinyxp to disc and run it on my ONE, will it definitly work?
All i want is a fast boot time.

    Right. i sorted out nlite.
i did remove alot of stuff.
    its installed.
and from boot to desktop. with no drivers and no programs installed at all.
my boot time is 59 seconds.
I am utterly perplexed as to how you got 25 seconds beaker!

SSD or HDD? I can do 25 seconds pretty easily with XP on HDD. Don't have SSD model to test with.

do you have the network cards both enabled? sometimes having a network card poll for dhcp address can slow boot times down.
Not quite sure what you removed, as I did an nlite installation of xp as well.

well, you are running vista and that always boots faster right? and you have more ram?
I saw a video of people timing their boot time on youtube and they did it from the windows xp logo.
because no one here seems to have posted anything I'm just going to install my normal no edited windows from my usb stick.

My SSD One takes about 40 seconds to boot up. I've got the system partition encrypted with Truecrypt, too!

    install your drivers.
not knowing what you have removed using nlite or what not, it is hard to say what is causing you slowdown.
at what point is it taking long? at the part where the blue lines are going across the screen?
while you are logging in and it is setting up your desktop?
you need to provide more info.

look for an updated driver for the processor Oliver, when I first install Vista I was offered it immediately and it improved performance, I also needed a new touch pad driver [straight from synaptic website] that also helped [cos it kept freezing up]
