For those who want to update to 10.5.5 this is what I did and worked.... (UPDATED power management for proper battery recognition thanks to Martin for pointing it)

I followed this tutorial to get my Aspire One working
    Installed via iaktos 10.5.4

1.- Backup your installation, I used Carbon Copy Cloner
    2.- Download update 10.5.5 from here http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/a ... pdate.html
    Its around 317 mb
3.- Go to Terminal, already having a root username and password
    su root
    (enter your root password)
type "while sleep 1 ; do rm -rf /System/Library/Extensions/AppleIntelCPUPowerManagement.kext ; done" without the quotes.
    (leave this terminal window opened)
4.- Install the update, before you reboot exit the Terminal script by holding down Ctrl and pressing C (Ctrl + C). Close Terminal and hit the button on the Update to reboot your computer.
5.- When it restarts boot from the iatkos 10.5.4 dvd, the one you used for installation, select your hard drive, and customize your installation, DESELECT everything, and dig on drivers, you should see a "speed step" feature, select only that one, and continue installation, it will be FAST! and it will reboot after that. Take off your Installation disc from drive.
6.- Let your new updated 10.5.5 boot by itself, after a while it will reboot, it is normal.... the next boot will work.
7.- Once you are back in Leopard 10.5.5, you will notice that the update process replaced some kext but they are backed up on "\Backup Extensions" rename the folder or send it to the trash can, update your installation using SOFTWARE UPDATES (optional, I did this to get Safari 3.2.1, etc)
8.- Download and decompress this zip http://www.diablo-air.net/kexts.zip use "kext helper b7" (not included on file) and install the included kexts.
9.- Download this zip http://www.diablo-air.net/powermanagement.zip and extract and replace content on /System/Library/SystemConfiguration
    10.- Reboot
11.- on Disk Utilities fix permissions
    12.- Enjoy!

Note: With the included Kexts, Audio autoswitch and Internal mic works!!

Hope it work for you guys!, sorry about my english, I am Mexican :D, greetings!

Dont know with ichat, but it works with skype and tested on system preferences, the input measure level detects when you speak so I think ichat will work, as well all others....

can you possibly try this out for me? i'll def do the 10.5.5 update sooner rather than later if it works. With my iAtkos v4.1 install input mic measure levels are also detected, although the mic still doesn't work with iChat. I can get on iChat and test it out with you if you need.

Thanks diablonet for this useful info.
I've tried it many times today but have not been able to do it with your suggestions.
My setup was an iATKOS v4i.
What seemed to break it completely was the kexts.zip. So after several unsuccessful attempts (system would not boot anymore, not even in -s mode), I decided to do it my own way:
    - Fresh iATKOS v4i install with speedstep enabled,
    - do exactly as you explain,
    - do not install kexts.zip, but install the usual display kexts, then sound drivers (ALC268_by_collit99)

I now have 10.5.5 working exactly as before (at least for the very few things I have tested).
Also 10.5.5 killed the battery meter, the trackpad and keyboard. To fix this I installed Power Management 10.5.3 and AppleACPIPS2Nub.kext. I dunno the details about sound yet, I just know I have sound.
Basically all I wanted to say is that your instructions as they are didnt work on my pretty standard iATKOS v4i setup, so be careful if you feel like upgrading to 10.5.5...

I've tried running that little script in terminal and I still get a kernel panic about half way through the install...are you guys using the defaul 9.2.2 ToH Kernel ? you can check in osx86tools if you go to install new kernel it will identify the current one. Thanks.
