icon appeared on screen

    Acer Aspire 1

    An icon has appeared on the screen as in a small star shaped icon
    and when you hover the curser over it it says

    New Item
    this item has not yet been configured yet

    My wife uses it and must have d\l an update but it's stopped her
    getting an internet connection and was wondering how to configure
    it or better still just get rid of it.

    AND

    To restore factory setting do i need a disc and if i've misplaced
    it can i d\l it.

    All in all a nice machine for sitting watching tv and checking
    my ebay.
