I need an instant messenger to use my icq client at the acer aspire one.

The program which was installed only works with aim, msn,.... but i need icq
a few years ago i used the windows version of gaim. is there an alternative? maybe a trillian version for linux?

    thx,
    Christian

    Pidgin also supports ICQ.

    Cheers.

Linpus is indeed based on fedora core 8.

It is however easier to just install pidgin from the repositories:

First make sure your repositories are up to date, as mentioned in a few million posts here ;)
    Code:
    sudo yum update fedora-release
Then remove ACERS own messaging program (needed due to incompatibilities):
    Code:
    sudo yum remove libpurple
    Then install pidgin:
    Code:
    sudo yum install pidgin
Warning: pidgin does not support the use of a webcam in msn. But if you just want icq that should not be an issue ;)
