ICQ

Hello,

I need an instant messenger to use my icq client at the acer aspire one.

The program which was installed only works with aim, msn,.... but i need icq :roll:
a few years ago i used the windows version of gaim. is there an alternative? maybe a trillian version for linux?

i think i will try pidgin. but there is only a version for : windows and for linux with fedora core. is linpus based at the fedora cora?

Linpus is indeed based on fedora core 8.

It is however easier to just install pidgin from the repositories:

First make sure your repositories are up to date, as mentioned in a few million posts here

sudo yum update fedora-release 

Then remove ACERS own messaging program (needed due to incompatibilities):

sudo yum remove libpurple

Then install pidgin:

sudo yum install pidgin

Warning: pidgin does not support the use of a webcam in msn. But if you just want icq that should not be an issue

i installed pidgin 2.5.2-1.fc8 but i get error "your client is too old"...anybody knows how to resolve it?
