Increasing External Monitor Resolution

    Hi,
    I have a AAO with Linpus Linux. I have connected it to an external monitor - an Asus VK191D. However, the resolution is very muddy/unclear. On the AAO 'Home' screen, I have gone to the 'Settings' and then to 'Display', then to 'Display Preferences' where the only resolution available is '1024x600@60'. The Asus VK191D can accept much higher resolutions. Haw can I change the resolution?
    Please help.
