Hey guys, this might sound a little "out there", but I was wondering if its possible. I want to run an OS from a 4GB SD card (actually, its a microSD with the adapter) In theory, its possible, i guess it would be the same as any pendrivelinux. But I was wondering if anyone on here has tried it. Would the AO even be able to boot from the SD slot? (I'll be using the ao751)

OR, can I just install a webbrowser and/or small media player onto the SD, and play downloaded files from there without it showing up on my harddrive?

well if that worked, then it seems like it would be possible if there is SD as a boot option.. just my guess.. I'm just trying to figure out what I can use the SD slot and my currently useless microSD card for. since I've got either the 120 or 160 GB hard drive, using it for just extra storage is kind of pointless in my opinion.. Like, if you have a 50 gallon gas tank on your car, but you have a 20 oz bottle of "spare gas" just in case...

Use it for Readyboost if you are running Vista or Win 7. I'm using a 4 Gig in the SD slot with Vista on a 751H and it does help speed things up some. It acts as an encrypted disk cache speeding up read/writes to the hard disk. The benefit of using the SD slot is that it doesn't stick out and can be left in place. After stripping out unnecessary services and such from Vista I am surprised how quick the 751H can be even with Vista.

I'm waiting for somebody to post how to disable the action that writes data to the HDD, and then writes the same data to Readyboost. Yes, the system might not be as stable as the original scheme, but it could be a big performance booster.
