Okay folks been reading a lot off the various posts on here and must admitt being a bit off a novice in this side off computing I really am getting a bit bogged down with all the various ways to install xp on the littel acer ??!!

so okay have my acer aspire one ( HDD ) version here, have an external usb disc drive ( xbox 360 HD version ) and a copy off xp pro which is currantly on my main desktop pc but which I appreciatte I will have to install on dvd disc, the xp version I have is in iso formatt, so okay anyone be so kind as to talk me thru how I get the xp from my main pc onto disc and then on onto the actual acer aspire one itself.

is there a simplified guide around that will advise me on how to do it this way ie. from an external disc drive as opposed to the usb key method ??

Okay thanks mate will check out the link and have a good read thru, you say it worked for you but I thought from your earlier post you say the external disc drive method did not work for you and you ended up using the usb key method instead ??

No probs understand now, just wonder why you had trouble with trying to load xp via the xbox 360 drive method ?? has anyone here managed to succusfully install xp via the xbox 360 drive ??

To be honest am getting more confused by the minute !! I think I have read so much on the net that I have got myself confused with all the different methods etc talked about !!

have ordered the xbox 360 disc drive so just waitting on it arriving within the next few days, all I need to know now is from the guide within your link or any other online xp installation guide for that matter is it purely the boot up device that I select ie. if using usb disc drive select this as opposed to the usb memory key that will be different everything else in the guide is the same ??

again anyone who had succusfully installed xp via the xbox 360 method please do let me know ??

Thanks guys. This is still very advanced for me, but I'm getting there. Right now all I need to do is install Mozilla Thunderbird from USB stick (downloaded Linux version thru XP) and Evermore OneOffice (Fedora and Impi compatible) from their distro disc. It auto-installs on XP.

Put the Linux File on USB stick, but running pirut as per LinuxQuestions.org forums only opens that dialog window and then tells me it cannot find the net. Yeah right, I don't even have Wifi figured yet, but that's fine, I'll start slow. Problem, clicking any but anything on that dialog only shuts is down with nooo other options.

    Any ideas, please?

Oh yes, any ideas where I can find Linux drivers for my Moto Razr V3r to use as a modem? I've surfed and searched (just got redirected to resellers of other stuff)- and posted but nothing yet. Or, then again, what mobile would work?
