Hi, first of all, thanks to every body for this topic.

I'm getting a problem with the headphone detection after following the steps from the tutorial. Before rebuilding ALSA driver, I was getting sound from internal speaker and headphones simultaneously only sometimes, now its happening always.

I have tried all the possible options with /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base, but when I'm getting sound, I always have the problem with headphones.

Any idea to solve the problem?

    Thanks all.

Sorry, after writing this I searched a bit more through the topic, I see that we haven't a solution yet for this problem.

I did it too, but in still have sound in both headphones an speakers.

Could you past here your /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base code to see what options are you using?

I just ran into a problem with my ubuntu install. I booted up and it lost all themeage and was really slow. The theme won't apply completly and I I messed up xorg. I am wondering if I can get a copy of the right xorg config file so that my computer can have a proper graphics because it is slow because of the graphics

    Something like this:

#Prevent abnormal drivers from grabbing index 0
    options bt87x index=-2
    options cx88_alsa index=-2
    options saa7134-alsa index=-2
    options snd-intel8x0m index=-2
    options snd-via82xx-modem index=-2
    options snd-usb-audio index=-2
    options snd-usb-usx2y index=-2
    options snd-usb-caiaq index=-2
    # Ubuntu #62691, enable MPU for snd-cmipci
    options snd-cmipci mpu_port=0x330 fm_port=ox388
    options snd-hda-intel model=toshiba

    hope that helps

Yes, after reboot, but I have noticed that I followed the guide from https://help.ubuntu.com/community/AspireOne , that is a bit different.

I'll try with the guide from this forum, and tell you the result.

    Hey guys,
Dumb question. When im doing the install i understand i should use a EXT2 partition...But how exactly do i do this? Do i do a manual install? Can i do a guided install and just tell it to use a EXT2? Is it just one big partiotion ext2 that i have to make? Thanks

Should i just make one big part as ext2, and mount it as / ? if i do this, will i have full access to create folders and and copy files and everything....because the last time i did an install of ubuntu i ran into alot of problems with not being able to have root access on anything

    anyone, lil help please?

Im trying to figure out what partitions to create on my 8 gig for the ubuntu install.
I want to make sure that i can get the most out of the limited amount of space i have. I dont want to have any trouble creating folders or saving files wherever i want...I know that sounds weird but with my EEE i had trouble with privelages in folders, and i think it had to do with how i setup the partitions. Can someone please advise me as to whether i should just create one large / partition (and a swap) or if i should create a seperate /home partition, and how big it should be?

    thanks

It looks like acerfand no longer works after the bios is upgraded to 3304. Someone may like to corroborate that though. :)

On my last install I just used the default "all disk" partition scheme of ubuntu with 3?? of swap and in ext2.
But on previous instalations followed a scheme used by Arch
    \ 8Gb (ext2)
\home on the left card reader (ext2)
    no swap

hope that helped, but I think that the choise of partitions is the same as choosing a distro, it's the best for me...

I did the same. During install, you can use the guided-whole disk option, but then click on the Advanced button on the next screen to choose ext2 as the file system. I simply used the entire 8G SSD for /.

After the installation was complete I popped in an 8G SDHC in the left slot, formatted it as ext2, copied everthing from /home onto it (cp -arv), and mounted it at /home. The fstab entry looks like this:

    Code:
    /dev/mmcblk0p1 /home ext2 rw 0 0
That way any users and their personal files are stored on the SD, while the rest of the system is free for the base operating system and applications.

Privileges in the folders shouldn't be related to how you set up the partitions, but that's really not your question here. If you're even remotely likely to be reinstalling the OS (and I can't count the number of times I've done that in the three weeks I've had my AA1), a separate /home partition is something you'll really come to appreciate. With only an 8GB SSD to work with, I'd skip the swap if you have more than 512MB RAM, and put /home on an SD card
