    HEY NOW!

    VLC going. Took a bit of screwing around to get the icons righ. Now here's the deal -- I had no luck with these instructions until I went to the VLC web site & downloaded there. Viola, there was actually something to install! :D

    Installing VLC and the updated mplayer was a breeze.
    Point is: with both I have sluggish performances.
    While CPU usage is reasonably low (using XVideo output or X11 when compizFusion is enabled) the playback is not smooth. It looks like a few frames get skipped every 3-4 seconds.
    This really puzzles me. Anyone else is experiencing this problem?

    Hi,

    I've followed the instructions and everything has installed properly and gone well... EXCEPT- as the instructions mention, I get an error message when opening VLC from the desktop:

    "Unable to open '%U'"

    And when I try to resolve it following the instructions, I get a blank notepad screen with nothing to alter! Any ideas??

    This is what I've done:

    $ sudo mousepad /user/share/applications/livna-vlc.desktop

    And... the blank file pops up with nothing there for me to alter.

    Thanks for any help!

    The code should read
    Code:
    sudo mousepad /usr/share/applications/livna-vlc.desktop
    not user as shown in the post above.
    Open the file and find exec= and delete the %u from it. Its not needed.
