So, I installed Vista on my AAO. The Vista install went fine, but I wanted to go back to XP. The problem is, that the Vista install did something to the recovery partition. When I tried to press Alt-F10 at boot up, the recovery partition wouldn't execute.

I called Acer and they are going to send me an XP recovery disc.

is there some sort of reason why people accidentally erased the partition?
happened to me too, and Acer is asking $20 for my recovery disc.....

The hidden partition should be displayed as the X drive. Just don't do anything to it I guess...

When I was setting up Vista, I opted for a complete reinstall, not an upgrade. Vista only showed one partition, not both the main partition and recovery partition. Thus, I assumed that Vista wasn't going to touch the recovery partition. The Acer tech guy said that he thought that Vista had somehow corrupted the recovery partition.

My uneducated guess is that Vista's bootloader, which is different than XP's, had something to do with the ability to launch the recovery partition.

Use any old XP OEM cd you have lying around with product key from your sticker!

Then install your own copy of XP, sheesh. You could've backed your XP install first before trying to install Vista...Use Ghost or something.
