Installing Codecs

    Hi I just got my one today and im quite computer literate but new to linux. I need to know how to install the win32 codec pack for the media player so that i can watch mlb.tv in the firefox browser.

    Hi,

    I would like to offer my advise, and ditch Media Master, or whatever it is, and go straight for VLC - it plays EVERYTHING. Here is the URL for a very detailed and easy to follow method of downloading and installing it:

    You can't use VLC to play Apple trailers or other forms of web based media...

    Supposedly, you can - scroll down in the discussion, as I did , and you will see a poster offer a second line of instruction, tying VLC to Mozilla - I did it and it seems to work. I believe it's solved......

    Here is the post:
    To use vlc plugin in firefox for some websites, it's better to use this:

    su -
    rpm -ivh http://rpm.livna.org/livna-release-8.rpm
    yum install vlc
    yum install python-vlc mozilla-vlc

    works fine

    i spent 2 full days trying to get vlc to work,to no avail.
    i think it might have been a codec problem.
    i am now trying to install the necassary codecs so that mplayer can play videos,and after will then try again to get flv to work

    im getting there but i need to know how to install the win32 codecs

    can anyone help?
