    Hi there,
i just discovered gOS, a linux distro based from Ubuntu that looks like MacOSX and it's very lightweight. Article: http://blogs.howtogeek.com/tuxgeek/2008 ... an-ubuntu/

i was wondering how difficult would it be to get it running on the ONE. I read somewhere that the wireless card wasn't working but that could be fixed using madwifi's drivers i think.

    has anyone tried it?

I successfully installed gOS 3 last night! I haven't gone through an extensive test with all the hardware. But what works is sound, lan, suspend, dual-booting with vista, and wifi (with the ubuntu tweaks found at https://help.ubuntu.com/community/AspireOne). There is still minor problems with the OS as a whole for example preference sliders are invisible for mouse and speaker output (but are still usable if you guess and find them). I'm sure there are other problems but the gOS support forums found at http://groups.google.com/group/goslinux seem to be very helpful.

As for the rest of the hardware such as the card reader, webcam, and mic I haven't tested, but my guess since gOS is a derivative of Ubuntu 8.04.1, most of the issues found in the "install Ubuntu" thread will apply (as well as the tweaks).

I am dual-booting gOS and windows vista on the 120gb AA1 and all is great! (if your curious as I did that in vista I freed up 20gb to a free partition then used UNetbootin to make a bootable flash drive to install in the free space. gOS includes the GRUB bootloader just like Ubuntu has.) a more details guide can be found at http://apcmag.com/how_to_dualboot_vista_with_linux_vista_installed_first.htm.
