    Hi all,

Awaiting delivery of my AAO tomorrow -- got a good deal on the 160GB 6-cell version running XP. :D

I used to run Linux has my desktop a few years ago and I'd like to try to migrate back (slowly) by running both. I have a colleague with a Linpus Recovery Disk for his AAO that I can use.

I assume I can go the repartition and dual-boot route, but is there a way to install Linpus on either an SD or USB and dual boot from that?

Any and all suggestions, input, advice appreciated!

    JT

I believe the Linpus recovery disk provides a disk image, so be careful when using it. You probably don't want to overwrite your recovery and XP partitions. I don't know if you can create a bootable USB stick with the Linpus image; my guess is that it will require some clever tweaking. The AA1 won't boot off the SD card readers, so that route's out. Sorry I wasn't more helpful

No, you've actually been quite helpful as my concern was that I had missed some simple answer somewhere. ;)

Yeah, some of the threads studded with HDD over-writes were pretty alarming.

I think the first step will be to clone my current setup to a safe place before I start fiddling. I think the goal will be to go with Linpus on a USB drive to start, maybe one of the physically small 4GB versions.

    Thanks,

    JT

P.S. Is that the Arch in Moab that went down recently? Love that park.
