    Hi,

In Linux, you can create a ".fonts" folder in your home directory and throw fonts in there. They should be available in your programs. You may need to reboot.

    /home/user/.fonts

You will have to right-click when browsing your home directory to see hidden files. (Files and folders with a period at the beginning are normally hidden from view.

I installed my favs: (verdana, tahoma, courier new, and the mac Monaco font) on my AA1.
    Good luck.

    James,

Thanks for your post. I did as you told, but why are the fonts not in the list? I have to type arial in font selector and then it is arial, but I can't select it from the list, any comments?

    Thanks in advance!

    Hello dark_construct,
    How did you do that?
Just copied the MS-fonts to the /.fonts - folder??
I would very much like to have Arial and Verdana on my AAO.

    Any help would be nice!

    OK,
I found out myself: It works!
Just copied the ttf-files from windows/fonts or windows/system to /.fonts folder on my AAO, and it works!

    Another question:
Where can I delete some of the pre-installed fonts I don't use?

    As a supplement to that question;

Where are the existing fonts stored?

After long time searching and some "trial and error-actions", I found out how this must be done:
The fonts are stored in: /usr/share/fonts
When you want to delete some fonts, open a terminal in the folder of the font you want to remove
after that you log in as root ( type su, followed by your password)
next thing is: type rm *.* (with this you are removing all the files within that folder.
After that you have to remove the folder also.
To do that, I end terminal and start terminal again in /usr/share/fonts (There my be a quicker way, but I did not discover that until now)
then type rmdir xxxxxxxx (where xxxxxxxx stands for the name of the folder)
This removes the fonts from your system. They do not show up in the list of f.i. Open office any more
