installing realplayer for Linux

    Would someone PLEASE help me?
    I would be greatful if someone could email me at [email protected] and talk me through on how to install realplayer on my new Linux computer. From start to finish, till the point that I can find it on my desk top. When I attempt to do it, I cant find it!! Driving me nuts!!
    someone please help me. Thanks, Doug. I owe ya one!! :cry:

    I also managed to install but also canĀ“t find it neither in menue nor desktop. but nobody seems to know the answer

    Why do you need it ? An updated mplayer can play everything realplayer can and more ;)

    I wanted realplyer for internet radio, but Im open to other ideas.
    Any ideas please?

    assuming it installed ok, it should be available from the right-click menu...

    do you have the right click menu enabled?

    otherwise navigate from the file manager to /usr/shared/applications and see if you can find realplayer.desktop

    if its there you can edit group-app.xml with a new icon entry to point to the desktop file to make a desktop icon

    I can only run realplayer in the terminal by typing in
    /opt/real/RealPlayer/realplay
    It doesn't show up on right click and is not given as an option to "open with other application" I presume its because its in the wrong directory. Is it an mv command? if so I'm not sure of the syntax....

    Just my twopen'orth, make sure that your browser is shut whilst installing RealPlayer else the plugins dont register! Spent 24hrs working that one out doh :D
