I have windows 7 ultimate on cd and used WinToFlash to create the bootable usb drive for installation. After installation, Internet explorer frequently stopped responding, and I would randomly get a blue screen that said 'bad pool caller' or 'bad pool header.' Now it won't start windows and runs some error checking thing that can't find or fix any problems. I'm trying to do a clean install. What should I do to make windows 7 install correctly?

    Hi

I followed the instructions from this thread

    Link: viewtopic.php?f=70&t=13460

And have had no problems in installing W7, installation took less than an hour from running the iso creator to first boot.

    Hope this helps

So I installed it again, shut down the system and everything seemed fine, then turning it on later it says windows did not shut down correctly and disk needs to be checked for errors. Then after a long process of error checking with many actions done with orphaned files etc., the system was running again. Other problems found: tried to get the weather gadget working but it's not displaying text, a single windows security update keeps failing, tried watching netflix streaming movie for a few minutes before it crashed to a blue screen(I didn't catch the error message on it.)

So I'm thinking I need to install some drivers and maybe a bios update, but I don't know exactly which ones I need, I tried installing the graphics driver on this site but it said operating system not supported. What should I do?

Many AAO netbooks have the GMA500, and the above driver does not support that

Actually the intel website does not have official end-user drivers for that card at all. They do have the following "latest driver for developers"
    http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_ ... 7&lang=eng

I am just using all the drivers automatically picked by win7, and they run fine and 100% stable on my AAO 751h. I only needed to locate drivers myself for the gestures on the touchpad and the blue acer special function keys.

I used the official Microsoft Windows 7 USB/DVD Download Tool in order to transfer win7 from the official installation dvd to the thumb drive.

The previous post in which i recommended the intel downloads page was while I had Win7 RC installed. Since then I have installed the full retail version of Win7 Home Premium on my AOA150ab.
Whilst I agree that not every AAO has the same graphics chip the Intel site does allow the end user the opportunity to find the relevent drivers themselves.
    http://downloadcenter.intel.com/default.aspx
In the RC of Win7 the drivers installed were mainly generic, the retail version has many improvements and installs most of the current drivers required. There are still a few minor problems with the card readers and occasionally the touchpad driver. As with everything else when a new OS comes out it takes time for new and stable drivers to appear.
Whilst I do not claim to have all the answers I am merely providing one possible solution, the OP or whoever can always follow the links through the site to obtain their own particular drivers.

Have fun with Win7 (although it wasn't my idea, I wouldn't mind 0.00001% of the monies made on it! lol)

I have the AOA150 and i installed Win7 Enterprise. all seems to work except the notification of the volume but i can live without that. Your link did give me a newer driver for the graphics so i used it and i am having no problems.
Device manager is showing 3 "base System Devices" with no drivers . no idea what they are but my sd slot and card reader worked out of the box. properties on the devices with the yellow warning are
    " PCI bus 4, device 0,function 3 "
    " PCI bus 4, device 0,function 4 "
    " PCI bus 4, device 0,function 0 "

    any ideas?
