I have trawled far and wide but cannot find an answer that I can understand :-(

Th machine is a AOA150 from about 2 years ago, running Linpus Lite v1.0.7 E, BIOS v 0.3114, Hitachi HTS 120 gb hard drive, 1.5 gb RAM. I have plugged in an external CD ROM drive, and set the Aspire to boot from the XP installation disc CD - no go. In fact - nothing !

I then installed Ubuntu 10.10 from a USB stick - no problem - and I can `see' the CD ROM drive.

I have seen mentioned that XP will not install unless the BIOS is set to `IDE'. However, my version of InsydeH20 does not have an option to set `IDE' in the BIOS.

Anyone else with this problem ? And even better a solution ?

    Regards to all

Before I got an external drive, I installed XP from USB.

Make sure your boot media is bootable, is it a "backed up" CD/DVD?
