I've tried to install a few linux distros other than Linpus, and whenever I try them on a live USB, the wireless refuses to turn on. Will fully installing fix this? I'd rather keep linpus and internet than get a smaller, faster, isolated distros.
    Thanks in advance.

I belive you did not installed madwifi drivers - that's why you Wi-Fi card wasn't present in the system. Actually it was but not operational... Wi-Fi card used in AA1 is Atheros based and madwifi is supporting this card...

Of all of the distros I've played with Ubuntu-eee is by far the best. Nearly everything including wireless worked out of the box.
