IPC X-DL 10.5.6 Install Tutorial (With Atheros Wlan)!

1.Get your hand on a copy of iPC X-DL 10.5.6
2.Burn it on a dual layer DVD
3.Start the installer on your aspire one

    Now over to the install.

1.First choos your language. When you arive at the install screen, you need to go to disk utility. When you have opened that, erase your disk to be MAC OS Extended(Journaled).
2.Now that this is done, you need to select a destination, for me its a external drive.
3.Now you need to customize the install, this is important.
    Here is how to:
Important things to have. Base System, and drivers.
    Expand iPC Osx86 10.5.6 Intell AMD SSE2 SSE3
Then you will see Kernels,DDrivers,Fixes and Patches,Alternate Bootloadrs and Applications.
    4.Expand Drivers-Ethernet Drivers and choose Realtek R1000
5.Expand Wireless Drivers And choose Atheros AR5007EG
    6.Expand Audio Drivers-ALCxxx and choose ALC268
That was the driver part. Now over to some other important things to add.
7.Go to fixes and Patches and expand it.
8.You will now need tick CPUS=1 One Core Fix,IOPCIFamily,Kext Patch,IPOCMCIA Family and PS/2 Device Support.
Now you have the basics for the system to run with atheros and sound working. You just have to be sure that the kismac get installed, it should be installed with the atheros driver.

Now you can choose if you whant different kernels and bootloaders and what apps you whant to have.. I tick all apps:D

The install takes about 1 houre, so sitt down, have a coffee and sig and just wait.

When the install is done, you should be able to boot straight to the desktop and open kismac to scan for wireless connections. If you have trouble booting the first time, start your boot with -x. Then you should be able to config the setup and reboot into the real desktop:D

    Enjoy my first tutorial:D

I seem to only be able to boot when using the -x flag when using your instructions, you didn't happen to leave anything out did you?

Thats kinda weard, because that is what I did, I used my other computer to write the Tuto when I installed it on My AA1. So I didnt do anything different, unsept that I installed it on a external drive.. But this method allso work on the internal one, because ive tryed it.

You are sure that you havent left anything out??

Looks like part of the problem was the original disk I made as the install was taking 30min at most. Reburned the desk and the install took an hour. Worked fine for two reboots, then I tried to install my at&t air card and it wouldn't come back up. Ive now re tried the install another 3 times and it wont even get to the first boot.

What speed did you burn the disk at??

Because when you burn a dual layer disk at high speed, you will have trouble installing.. I burned it at 4x.

But as far the install guid, it seems to work. I will install a virtualation software on my computer, and make a full turotial with screens. But i need a tip on a program like vmware, bacause vmware crashes my windows 7... Get bluescreen telling me of some new hardware that didnt work, uninstalled it, then we are back up again...

Just to say that you can use the 10.5.7 Apple update with this install (Assuming you haven't selected any other Kernel as the install uses a Vanillia kernel as default). If you have fitted a BroadComm Wlan card then you don't have to select and Wlan drivers..

I spoke too soon. yes the 10.5.7 update installs but all the aspire drivers go missing!!! On re-install of the video drivers the install fails and will load in safe mode !!

Dears, I´m looking at google to IPC X-DL, but I´m just finding iPC X-DL OSX86 10 5 6 LiveDVD... I don´t want a live DVD, I just want the instalattion. Is there another distro that is exactly X-DL?

Is this "iPC OSX86 10.5.6" wihout X-DL the same thing??

    Thanks

Wait, so the iPC X-DL is the installation + LiveDVD, and iPC Universal is just the install? Or are they different? o.o
