IPod HDDs

    Hi

    Is someone fitted that hdd from older ipod's (big one, black&white screened) (Toshiba MK4006GAH)

    Its connector is like normal 2.5" PATA HDD but there is somekind of zif adapter in it.
    And it is less wider but little bit longer than those newer toshiba zif hard drives.

    Doesn't look like it will fit as it looks a bit thick. You really need a ZIF drive. I fitted a MK6008GAH without a problem.

    the drives that end in number 8 seem to be the ones with ZIF connectors (MK2008GAL, for example). drive thickness should be 5mm as far as i know. i just received the MK3008GAL i ordered from ebay two weeks ago, and am installing it atm. just taking a little break... be aware that you need double-sided adhesive tape (mounting tape) to installthe drive as there seem to be no screw holes.

    * Height: 8.0mm (for iPod with extended back casing only)
