    Hello,
My Acer Aspire one AOA110 running Tiny7 on 1 gig of ram has an idle CPU temp of 42 degrees Celsius. When watching a 720p Youtube Video while using voice skype, it gets up to 65 degrees Celsius. This seems dangerously hot to me. Is it normal for the Atom processor to get this hot??

    Hi there,

I'm guessing that it is the N270 Atom Processor you have in the A110.
If so, the Intel datasheet (http://download.intel.com/design/proces ... 320032.pdf) states that the Tj (Thermal Junction) Temperature max is 90degrees and the Catastrophic Thermal Protection value is 125 degrees.

As such, although 65 sounds quite hot, it is still well clear of max values.
So long as it is only doing it when under full load such as watching movies I would think you should be ok.

Hope the above helps put you at ease.

Every internal measurement software app cranks out a different temperature - run two of them and you won't believe they're measuring the same machine - they're only good for showing a difference between "idling" and more intense usage using whatever inputs. I find them all less useful than what the keyboard feels like when you touch it.

That said, if like me you're using fan control software, I'd suggest being sure it is not set too high to turn on when it's needed.
