Hello all, I'm just wondering if anyone knows where to get updates and drivers for the Linux version of the Aspire One. If I go to http://www.acer.com/aspireone, under the FAQs is says that for driver updates, go to http://www.acer.com/aspireone/updates. However, I've been trying to go to that site for the past 2 months and it's still either under construction, or it redirects you to the European Acer website and that's no help at all!

In short, I'm using an Aspire One that was manufactured sometime in July of this year, and I'd really like to get a BIOS update if there is one because I understand that this original one is quite buggy. My power-on password doesn't work unless the capslock is on, and the fan is always running, etc. Does anyone know where I can get a new BIOS (if there is one) on the Acer site??? Thanks!

There are at least 3 locations with useful files on the Acer ftp servers:
ftp://ftp.work.acer-euro.com/notebook/aspire_one_110/ (BIOS, windows drivers, manual in German)
ftp://ftp.acer-euro.com/netbook/aspire_one_linux/apps/ (Some extra apps. Like skype and The Gimp.)
ftp://csdftp.acer.com.tw/Aspire_One_Linpus_Linux/ (Source RPMS & files. Username guest, leave pw blank)

If you do not know how to apply BIOS updates, read this Macles* article:

With Linux you don't get drivers in the Windows sense of the term, unless you require third-party "drivers" and these are usually picked up through the repos. I doubt very much that the Acer servers are going to provide "drivers" for Linpus, but will for the Windows versions of these boxes. As for BIOS, I'm still running the original BIOS that came with this computer and so far haven't found a need to upgrade. Personally, I like the fact that the fan runs all the time. Then I'm assured that the computer is being kept cool. My fan can't be heard at all through the din of typical background noise in the environments I usually use this thing. Late at night, in a totally silent room, the fan is just barely heard on my AAO.

    Cheers.
