is this the Atom?

    Nope, the Atom is under the fan on the other side of the motherboard and looks like this but without the Intel logo on the core.

    I finally found out: its the southbridge.

    Another question:
    Acer is using heat sink pads, no better stuff such as arctic ceramique, right?

    thats right, but the atom you just showed is a lot smaller than the one that this lappy uses, the one you see on aspire one is about as big as a nickel, (if you know canadian money or us)
